Our creative writing teacher Ms. Crystal created a Christmas story with her 1st graders! This semester she's working on story making. She loves encouraging her children to use their imagination and be creative. Merry Christmas! 🎄 #AfterSchoolAllStars#PS272

Who says you have to buy a board game? Our All-stars are making their own. 😉 Our art teacher Mrs. Beltran said this activity helps our children work together and enforces their creativity! #AfterSchoolAllStars#PS272 ✂️🖍

The All-Stars programs at our schools would not be possible without the program staff!
As we close out our week, we want to take the opportunity to thank the men and women who bring our programs to life! Thank you Program team!
“Working for an organization like After-School All-Stars was definitely one of the best things that happened to me. I was given so many different opportunities to be who I was while teaching the minds of our future leaders. One thing that I loved about ASAS was that the possibilities of workshops, classes, and projects were endless and If you were passionate about something, you were allowed an open space to teach what you love. Working at the Dual Language Middle School gave me the gift of making an impact. Most of my students were English Language Learners so the struggles they faced everyday for example with just trying to do their homework was something I couldn’t imagine. No matter how many times they cried out of frustration, I let them know that not knowing a language didn’t mean they weren’t smart, it just meant they had to work twice as hard and that they had to be patient with themselves. My students were one of the main reasons I came to work everyday, they made me realize how much I loved my job and how much I wanted to give back as an Educator. Watching their growth was one of the most rewarding moments. The other reason why work was great was my amazing ASAS team. My supervisors believed in me and my aspirations in teaching and supported me in anyway they could and helped me grow as a person. They gave me the extra push and saw something in me and let me give back to these students. My coworkers were my backbone, without them and their helping hands I wouldn’t have had successful classes.
Thank you ASAS for an amazing experience and for being apart of my growth as a teacher!! I didn’t know I could love a place so much and you will always be a part of that year of growth for me. And I’m forever grateful!”
